Rules & Regulations

Please find below the Rules and regulations for the various event disciplines.

Cage specifications were updated on 24 August 2020. Please refer to Section 5 of the Rules for full details of the new specification.

Grandfathered Vehicles

A vehicle is considered a grandfathered design if it had an existing certified cage and logbook, and had the following additional bars fitted and was scrutineered between 24 August 2020 and 31 December 2024:

  • A-Pillar strut
  • Horizontal side bar (minimum one per side)

It is strongly recommended that a second side bar also be installed.

A grandfathered vehicle may continue to compete without requiring a full new specification cage rebuild. The physical or digital logbook must be presented at scrutineering to confirm grandfathered status.

Grandfathered vehicles must maintain current annual scrutineering to compete. If annual scrutineering lapses, the grandfathered status of the vehicle is not affected — the vehicle will simply need to be re-scrutineered before returning to competition.

New Builds

The following vehicles are considered a new build and must meet the new specification ROPS in full:

  • Any vehicle that had a previously certified cage but did not have the required additional bars fitted and scrutineered before 1 January 2025
  • Any vehicle newly constructed from 24 August 2020 onwards

All new builds must comply fully with the cage specification published 24 August 2020 — refer to Section 5 of the Rules.
